Technology allows food to be produced in greater qualities and at lower prices. Some people believe this is a positive development, while others believe that the change is harmful. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
There are different opinions and thoughts in regard to the question of whether contemporary modern machinery and applied chemistry should be spread and used in agriculture. While some people think that this allows farmers to grow more food of the highest quality, others argue that following such an approach poses a threat and danger to everyone's health and may have a harmful, negative and detrimental dramatic effect on ecological systems. The debate over this question seems to consist of irreconcilable poles. Both sides of the argument will be analyzed and highlighted before a logical conclusion is made and drawn and my own perspective is given.
There are several apparent advantages and benefits of using the latest technology and know-how in the food industry. In the first place, this allows farmers to produce and grow a rich harvest since the growth of cereals, fruits and vegetables are stimulated. As a result, the majority of a growing population does not suffer from famine. On top of that, genetically modified foods may be eminently nutritions. For example, I would rather consume genetically modified tomatoes as they contain more Ferrum and other nutritious substances.
In spite of these considerations, the advantages and benefits of agro-industrial technology are outweighed by several drawbacks. Food which is made and produced quickly with the help of pesticides may contain chemicals and substances harmful to humans. To my knowledge, some fertilizers used in Ukraine have not been checked and tested for safety yet. Besides this, food chains may be broken if crops and harvest are resistant to bugs and all kinds of insects. As a result, some species may become extinct and disappear in the near future.
Let me finish by mentioning that considering the arguments for and against using modern technology and know-how in farming and growing harvest, my opinion is that both sides have merit. However, after doing research and analyzing the opposing camps, my personal view is that people should aim to farm organically. This is because it is more natural and certainly safer, more secure and nutritious than the artificial growth and stimulation of food production.
