Cricket has become more popular than the national sports in sub-continental countries.
There are a lot of different thoughts on this topic. On the one hand, some people believe that it is totally related to the past colonization of these regions. Whereas, on the other hand, the other part of our society has an absolutely different opinion on this question as a basis of this popularity is rooted in the game itself and we do not have any other reasons here.
At first, I think that it is important to emphasize that, from my perspective, the main reason why this cricket game is highly popular in these countries is based on world history and the expansion of the British Empire in our past made a real impact on the current situation. All these moments around the colonization spread the culture of the British Empire and the cricket game is a great example.
But from the other perspective, it is absolutely clear that we also need to understand why these countries did not create their own national games or why the popularity of some national games decreased dramatically. In my opinion, these people did not develop their own games because they already have other games like cricket, for example. Nevertheless, from my point of view, it is highly recommendable to provide serious scientific research on this topic, if we want to be precisely correct without any our guesses that, obviously, are not objective.
In conclusion, I want to mention that these serious political questions need to have clear and structural answers which will be based on some type of scientific researches because, in other cases, it might occur negative feedback from people who live in these sub-continental countries. And as far as I am concerned, only scientific methods can solve this type of questions with flying colors.
