Hi everyone! I specialize in teaching grammar and speaking via Skype/Zoom (online). I’ve been doing that for a couple of years. Most of my students are IT specialists. If you're at pre-inter or upper-inter level, then welcome aboard! Now, a few pieces of advice on how to improve your English apart from our classes. You should realize that learning a language is first of all about your own efforts and consistency. Here is a list of things that I recommend my students to do when learning English. Consider it a to-do-list :)
1) TV series, comic books, books, YouTube videos, movies, articles, games, textbooks: there are so many resources you can draw English from, but are they useful? There is one important element that you might be missing. It is your own desire/goal to learn a new language. No excuses. Whatsoever. Forget about sloth. Now close your eyes and imagine where you wanna be at some point in the future. Don’t be a wannabe. If you really want to reach your goals start working on them at this very moment.
2) Speak to yourself. No, I mean literally. Not necessarily out loud :) You can do it in your mind. Imagine yourself being a vlogger/commentator. Try to describe anything you see starting from your own room or some area that you are being at. Think in English.
3) You need to be a good storyteller and explainer. Why? It’s obvious. The more you can tell about yourself the more fluent you are. Now try to explain what the word movie means but don’t use it in your explanation. For instance, this is a kind of video/there are different genres like drama, science fiction, comedy/Hollywood/Oscar/actors. Whatever is crossing your mind, just shoot. Associations always work well, even minor ones.
4) Learn synonyms. A lot of them. Learn words with plural meanings including the latter. Let’s say there is a word makeup. But there is also a phrasal verb “make up”. Just learn both. That said, you need to learn words with context, otherwise you won’t memorize any of them. Create your own e-dictionary and put all the new vocab that you recently got. Revise and use the new words over and over again. There are homophones, homonyms and homographs. Now do some research on what these are, don’t be lazy
